Students Light Up the World with God’s Word

  • Date | September 17, 2006
On September 17, it rained the whole day as if God poured an abundance of the Holy Spirit. The Okcheon Go&Come Training Institute was filled with all sorts of beautiful colors. Students in different colored t-shirts such as red, blue, yellow and purple gathered at the Okcheon Institute for The 6th Bible Preaching Event and Practice Guide on the Well-Rounded Life for Junior and Senior High School Students hosted by the Department of Students of the Head Office. In this event about 3,500 members participated, including the students who had passed the first test that was held on the 19th of August as well as the students' leaders, examiners and overseas brothers and sisters who were visiting Korea.

In the first half of the event, Mother prayed for the Holy Spirit of latter rain to pour down upon the students of Zion and said, Lincoln studied the Bible since he was young and released the slaves when he grew up. Just like him, learn about God's love and save many souls who are held captive in Babylon. Mother also encouraged the students with the words that they can show their strong faith like David who defeated Goliath with his faith, and like Daniel and his three friends who were saved when they obeyed only God.

Mother emphasized that students of Zion should listen to their teachers, obey their parents, engrave God's words in their hearts and give glory to God through their good deeds. Mother told them to refrain from playing computer games that interfere with their faith and school life, but always look to God and eternal heaven because their citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20 ), and be greatly blessed by doing their best to save souls.

Next, Chief Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim told the students to make plans for life in school and for life in Church, so that they might create a better future. He said, Just like 3% of salt keeps the sea from pollution, we should be the salt that purifies the world. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but give glory to God by your good deeds in your schools. Become a Walking Bible,' and obey God's words.

After the service, the Bible Preaching Event began. About 3,600 students were divided into 492 groups and each student preached on the subject, appointed by his examiner. They seemed to be very nervous at first, but once they began to preach, they gained courage and testified to the truth clearly, showing the verses of the Bible. The students, who were waiting for their turn, gained more knowledge as they listened to other students' preaching. Everyone applauded one another after each person had finished preaching.

After the preaching event, they watched three videos; one was about heavenly Mother's sacrifice and the path She has walked, and another was about the Peru Church. The students felt Mother's love in their heart and were determined to spread Her love throughout the world. The other video was titled Students! Dream of Tomorrow! which was about heroes of the world and those of the Bible who fulfilled their dreams they had when they were young. The video contained messages from the young adult members, who are fulfilling their dreams for the gospel at universities and workplaces. It gave the students the vision to be honest members of society and faithful Christians as well.

After watching the videos, the Children's Choir danced a traditional Korean dance for the students, and the students sang a new song in English for the overseas brothers and sisters. The overseas members also sang a new song for everybody who attended the event.

The next performance was the students'chamber music, and it was followed by the Go&Come Male Choir's a cappella. The children's chorus and dance, as well as the marching band's powerful performance, uplifted the atmosphere.

The university students of Zion introduced how they were fulfilling the dreams for the gospel at their universities, and encouraged the students to do their best to fulfill their dreams and visions. Lastly, the students performed a play titled Let's Establish the Realm of the Gospel throughout the Whole World. It showed how to overcome the problems they had at school and how to lead their friends and parents to God with their good deeds at school and at home.

Finally, it was time for the awards. 20 award ees were called: five male junior high school students, five female junior high school students, five male senior high school students and five female senior high school students. The points were totaled in five categories, including the points for preaching and for the written test. The awardees thanked God for blessing them and were determined to do good deeds at school and lead their families and friends to the way of life. Mother said over and over again, It's good to have great results for the tests at school, but give glory to God by your good deeds. Be blessed and loved by God by helping other students all over the world do good deeds as well.

After the awards ceremony, various events, which had been prepared by the Campus Mission Association, were held in the gymnasium and the corridor on the second floor of the main building. In the corridor, the students had a joyful time, having their faces painted, getting buttons with their pictures on them, participating in the new song contest, playing mini sports and so on. In the gymnasium also, many were playing traditional Korean sports and participating in the Memorize Mother's Teachings game.

The students, who were used to being alone, found out how fun it was to actively participate together. The overseas brothers and sisters also enjoyed their time, transcending nationality and age. The students at the event thanked God and said, Now we have wider views for the gospel after meeting the students from all over Korea, and we've got visions for our future at universities by the help of the Campus Mission Association.

When the sun began to set, the students had to go back home even though they wanted to stay longer. The Holy Spirit of latter rain was poured upon the students just like the rain which fell on this day, and let a seed of unlimited dream bud in their hearts. Just as a small sprout becomes a big tree, the students of Zion will become great prophets who will light up the world with the word of God.
