Pentecost originated with the works of Moses; on the fiftieth day after the Israelites crossed the Red Sea at the time of the Exodus, Moses went up Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments. It was called the Feast of Weeks in the Old Testament, because it fell on the day after the seventh Sabbath [Sunday] from the Feast of Firstfruits. This day the Israelites presented an offering of new grain to God. In the New Testament times, Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of the feast by pouring out the Holy Spirit of the former rain upon the Early Church at Pentecost on the 50th day after His resurrection.
On Sunday, May 27, all the Churches of God around the world held the Sacred Assembly of the Day of Pentecost to receive the blessing of the Holy Spirit, as God promised.
This day, Mother asked Father to pour out the gift of the Holy Spirit like a waterfall abundantly upon all Her children, and prayed for them to receive the power of the Holy Spirit, which is seven times stronger than the one given to the Early Church, and to save the whole world as the children of prophecy. Chief Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim delivered a sermon on the origin of Pentecost and the meaning of the descent of the Holy Spirit. He emphasized, “Now is the time to fulfill the prophecy that the gospel will be preached in Samaria and to the ends of the earth. God has given each of us various gifts of the Holy Spirit. In order for our gifts to be fully used for saving souls, we should realize that we are all members of one body and be united in love.”

At the afternoon service, Mother personally gave Her children words of life—the sermon titled, “Do Not Treat Prophecies with Con-tempt.” She told them to discern this time and keep in step with prophecy, watching all peoples come to Jerusalem to learn the “way of life” according to prophecies. Also, She blessed and encouraged them to bear much good fruit through the power of the Holy Spirit poured out upon them on the Day of Pentecost, saying it is the duty of the children believing in the prophecies to preach the truth of life to the poor souls, who have not yet heard of it, with God’s love and to lead many souls to Zion the city of refuge. The members realized that to fulfill world evangelism through unity in love is the best way to manifest the power of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, and earnestly prayed that they would experience again the work of the Holy Spirit like fire, as they did during the Preaching Festival of the Feast of Tabernacles.
