During the 2002 World Cup, the whole world laughed and cried together, watching the games. Powerful teams' poor progress and unexpected elimination, non-European teams' sudden rise, Korean teams' good fight and the power of the red-colored Supportersthe world was one for 30 days. Whenever the World Cup is held every four years, around the stadium gather people from nations. And after they leave, there is left trash.

While the whole world was burning up with soccer, church members campaigned for 'Proenvironment World Cup!' They hoped for the world people to remember the prophesied land in the east as "Clean Korea." One of the practical programs was distributing 300,000 brochures to citizens, picking up trash. The Whole Assembly published the brochures, receiving reference from the Ministry of Environment. This brochure says that the success of the World Cup depends on the environment of the country where the games are held. And it provides 10 practical ways for Green World Cup.

Members put garbage into the volumerate garbage disposal bags, giving brochures to the citizens. Some of them smiled, saying, 'What a good job!' Some officials helped members, saying, 'Actually we, the ward officials, are responsible for this.' Busan area, citizens participated in this campaign more positively, that 40,000 brochures were short of provisions.
The idea of 'Bring Back Trash' came from the experience of Church of God; in large stadia it held grand-scale assemblies and events which tens of thousand members attended. After an assembly or an event, all the stadium managers praised our church for making the stadium clean more than before the event. From this experience, members came to think, "How glorious it will be if all Koreans are praised." This small dream came true and the whole world shouted, "Wonderful Corea," day after day.

During the World Cup, 300 members per game (10,000 man-days) participated in the campaigns. What members please is not the number but the actual reform of civil consciousness.
Hwang In-joo in charge of public relations of the Whole Assembly said, "No one threw the brochure on the street. And I found myself worth laboring, when each country's press praised that Koreans' sense of public orderliness is the best, showing the related pictures."
One of internet papers said, "Church of God held environmental campaigns in elaborate plans and acquired lots of indirect effect for mission," and criticized the establish churches' insincerity who just issued a statement without action.
Actually, many people worried about Koreans' sense of public orderliness; in every ground trash had been seen. But through this World Cup, all was changed. It was because unknown people worked for their countryfor successful World Cup. And ordinary people responded to this with their warm hearts. We hope that Korea will stand high in the center of the world as 'Country of Power' through the World Cup.
