God, Wonderful Counselor
Each and every teaching God has given us is written down in the Bible. However, there are many people who neither know God nor recognize God’s will even though they read the Bible. It is because God takes away the wisdom and understanding of those who follow man-made rules and gives it only to His chosen people—He opens their spiritual eyes and ears so that they can understand His words (Isa 29:13-14; Mt 13:10-16).
Considering this fact, we come to know that God is truly “Wonderful Counselor.” When we look carefully into all things created by God, we can find the profound providence of the Creator in them. We can also see through the Bible that God’s wonderful counsel is also contained in the whole process of God’s coming to this earth and working for our redemption.
The deep and profound providence of God the Creator
Freshwater fish usually swim upstream against the current. You may wonder why they swim so hard upstream even though they can easily go wherever they want to when they swim downstream with the current. However, if they swim against the current, they can do exercise and strengthen their muscles. So, they can stay in their natural habitats without being swept away by a strong current into the sea, which contains a high level of salt.
There is also a certain reason why the wind blows a lot during the spring season. As for trees, they absorb water and nutrients through their roots and send them to the branches, so that they can put forth buds. For this, it is required to shake off the branches that have been frozen throughout the winter months. That is why God shakes the branches by sending them wind continuously.
When we look at the things that God has done, we cannot help but be filled with admiration. It is the same with His creation of humankind. It would be a lot easier if God made all human beings the same size and shape by casting them into the same frame. However, when we look at the people around us, they are all different from each other. Even the twins are not the same when we look closely at them. Among seven billion people in the world, no one has the same fingerprints as any other person. So, police officers use fingerprints to identify criminals. No matter how hard a man tries to conceal his identity, he cannot hide his fingerprints. Everyone also has distinctively different irises.
God has set a unique genetic code in everyone’s body, by which they can be identified. It must be the same for our souls. Spiritually we have our own fingerprints and iris patterns as well. God lets everyone leave traces of themselves—those who do good things leave beautiful traces behind, and those who do wicked things leave traces of evil. So, no one can make an excuse for his or her wrongdoings.
God judges and repays everyone according to what they have done (Rev 20:12; 22:12). So, we have to spend each and every day doing good deeds all the more, so that we will leave many beautiful traces behind and have no regrets when we go back to the kingdom of God.
God, Wonderful Counselor, who has come in the flesh
Everything God does contains an amazing counsel that is beyond all human imagination. God put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden and made Adam and Eve eat from the tree, by using the serpent that He had created to tempt Eve. All this was in accordance with God’s wonderful and marvelous administration for our redemption.
It was also in accordance with the counsel of God that He came in the flesh. God had already foretold in the Bible that He would come in the flesh, and He came as prophesied. However, strangely and ironically enough, those who claimed to believe in God did not recognize Him. Truly God is Wonderful Counselor.
Isa 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The prophet Isaiah prophesied that God the Father would come as the Son and would fulfill everything as Wonderful Counselor. Isaiah foretold that God would come as a child—in the flesh, and 700 years later God came to this earth in the humblest of ways that no one could recognize Him as God.
Isa 53:1-3 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
When Jesus Christ came to this earth as the Son, He had no beauty or majesty to attract people to Him, nothing in His appearance they should desire Him. He came to this earth, completely hiding His glory, so that no one would esteem Him. All this was in accordance with the counsel of God.
Jn 1:1-13 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
If God had come with His original, glorious image, everyone would have recognized Him. However, He was born in the flesh as a child, just like one of us. He was born in a stable where even lowly people would not want to stay, and grew up in a poor town called Nazareth.
There was no doubt that He was God Himself according to the Bible—according to the prophecies spoken through the prophets. However, since the people only looked at His appearance, He did not really seem to be God at all. In case of Judas Iscariot, he followed Jesus at first, being so amazed at His teachings. However, as he always looked at the outward aspects of Jesus’ life while following Him, he began to have doubts about Him. It was because Jesus disguised Himself completely enough to make people doubt or wonder, ‘He has no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. Can he really save us, human beings?’
However, God gave the right to become His children to those who recognized and received Him. No one can receive God who has come to this earth as Wonderful Counselor except those who are born of God.
God has come as the Spirit and the Bride
God has come to this earth in the humblest way and is looking for His children. This earth is a city of refuge—a prison where the souls who sinned are gathered together. Jesus came to this earth in the flesh to inspect the sinners from heaven—to see if they were truly living a life of self-reflection and repentance.
When He came to this earth, however, those who claimed to believe in God were not living a life of repentance as sinners, but instead they were living as those who would dominate others by exerting authority over them. They judged people only by their appearance, and rejected Christ who gave them the words of truth to lead them to heaven.
The same thing repeats itself even now. The 66 books of the Bible, which God has given us, is actually a task that human beings must understand and solve. However, there are so many people who have not found the answer yet. Numerous people stubbornly insist on their own way, so they fail to understand God’s will correctly and end up in a deplorable situation where they cannot receive God who has come in the flesh.
Rev 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
In the age of the Holy Spirit, God the Father and God the Mother appear as the Spirit and the Bride. As for a puzzle book, we can see the answers to the puzzles at the end of the book. Likewise, we can find the answer to every question—the Spirit and the Bride—at the end of the Bible. Coming to the Spirit and the Bride to receive the water of life—this is what God wants us to do above everything else and that is the conclusion of the Bible.
Most people in the world only know about God the Father. It is because of their long-standing and deeply rooted concept of God only as the “Father,” even though every living thing has both a father and a mother. When God the Father came to this earth in the flesh 2,000 years ago, many people did not recognize Him and rejected Him. It is the same now. Today, God the Mother has come to this earth, but many people do not receive Her. However, those who listen to the voice of the Spirit and the Bride, those who recognize God the Father and God the Mother correctly and follow Them, receive the blessing of becoming God’s children, as did the people who received God 2,000 years ago.
God’s plan by which He came in the flesh as a secret inspector
When we consider all these facts, we cannot help but give thanks to God for blessing us to recognize and receive God who has come in the flesh. Let’s see what kind of blessings God gave to those who correctly understood God when He came to this earth in the flesh.
Mt 16:13-20 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Peter gave the correct answer about Christ, who is the greatest mystery of the Bible, and was blessed by Him, while the other disciples did not. When Peter said that Jesus is the Son of God, he meant that Jesus is God Himself, Everlasting Father, according to the prophecy of Isaiah.
Like Peter, we must also recognize God correctly. If God had directly manifested His mighty power at His coming to this earth, who would have dared to crucify Him? No one would have insulted and slandered Him. However, God made a plan, by which He came to this earth in the humblest way.
There was a secret inspection system during the Joseon Dynasty of Korea. Under this system, the king sent a royal secret inspector to a provincial district to monitor the local officials—to see if they were governing the people in accordance with the will of the king. The secret royal inspector usually did not wear gorgeous clothes with a horse requisition tablet called “mapae” and he was not accompanied by many servants, either. He wore a worn-out hat and shabby clothes when he traveled through each region to see how the people were living. To distinguish between the faithful officials and the evil ones—to find out who governed well and who governed wickedly, squeezing the people, he looked after the populace and evaluated the local government officials while traveling incognito, and sometimes he dismissed the corrupt or abusive ones from their positions.
Like a secret royal inspector, God came down to this earth in the humblest way to find His children. Then He was finally able to meet His sincere disciples such as Peter, John, and James. Although He did not come in a gorgeous way and held worship services in a small and shabby place such as Mark’s upper room, all those who correctly recognized Jesus as God and received Him came to follow Him.
God’s children who participate in God’s plan and purpose with obedience
In these last days, God the Father came to this earth again and walked the path of the gospel in secret for 37 years. There were His sincere disciples who continued to keep their faith in Him, and there were also those who rejected Him for the reason that He came in the flesh. Father fulfilled everything He had planned and purposed, so that His children would correctly recognize Heavenly Mother, who came to this earth together with Him, and follow Her.
Isa 60:20-22 “. . . Then will all your people be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor. The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly.”
All we have to do is obey everything Father and Mother have taught us. Since God is leading the work of salvation, we just need to follow God’s guidance with joy in our hearts, giving up on our own stubborn thoughts and ways. To obey is to ultimately participate in God’s plan and purpose.
In a Chinese historical novel The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, there appears Zhuge Liang who was a famous strategist. When he formed an alliance with Zhou Yu to defeat the army of Cao Cao, he promised Zhou Yu that he would make 100,000 arrows for him within a few days. It would take several months to make that many arrows even if all the soldiers worked together day and night. However, he did not do anything. It was because he had an ingenious plan which no one could even imagine.
On a foggy day, he ordered his soldiers to make a lot of scarecrows, to stand them up in several ships and then to set the ships afloat. According to his order, the soldiers made many scarecrows and set several ships afloat after putting up the scarecrows in them, and they moved towards the army of Cao Cao. Because of the fog, the soldiers of Cao Cao mistakenly thought that their enemies were trying to attack them, and they shot numerous arrows at the scarecrows in the ships. When the soldiers of Zhuge Liang returned and pulled out the arrows, there were more than 100,000 arrows.
When God uses such a plan, what should we do? If God tells us to make scarecrows as well although we don’t even have enough time to make arrows, there must be God’s will for us. Since God’s plan or purpose is far beyond our perception or understanding, we just have to follow it.
When God, who is Wonderful Counselor, tells us to keep the Sabbath, there must be the profound will or purpose of God. However, people regard the Sabbath as just part of the Old Testament law, and they do not keep it. By this, God has distinguished those who keep God’s commandments from those who don’t. When God came to this earth in the flesh for the first time, He distinguished those who believed in His name and those who didn’t, and He led His children who believed in Him to the way of salvation. In these last days, God the Father and God the Mother have come together to complete the work of salvation.
Today, too, we are living by the counsel of God. If we acknowledge that God is our “Wonderful Counselor,” we have to obey what God says—this is the most important thing to do. If God tells us to keep silent until we are done marching around seven times, remaining silent is obedience to God, and if God tells us to shout, shouting is being obedient to God. Just as the city of Jericho fell when the Israelites did what God told them to do, the spiritual Babylon is also falling now. Since God has said that He will do it swiftly in its time, let us follow God wherever He goes.
I would like to thank Father and Mother once again for Their wonderful plan and purpose, by which They have come to this earth in the flesh. I would also like to thank Them for blessing us to recognize and receive Them. I earnestly ask all you brothers and sisters in Zion to understand the providence of God who is Wonderful Counselor and to give more thanks, praise and glory to God the Father and God the Mother who have come to this earth.
